Many people including www.thepcpeople.biz Ltd are concerned about the environment, and try to recycle and use environmentally friendly products whenever they can.
In fact from the moment www.thepcpeople.biz first started trading, we were committed to reducing the impact on the environment, from a business perspective.
For example we use recycled silk card for our Flyers, our Business Cards are made from recycled pulp board, and all the packaging from our suppliers is personally taken (by a member of staff) to a recycle point at Camberley refuse centre, to be recycled.
We also offer services to our customers to help and encourage recycling and environmental disposal. We can collect your old Computers and IT Equipment from Ascot, Camberley, Windsor, Fleet, Guildford and surrounding areas, remove all data and traces of personal information from it using military standard software to “Zero” the hard drive. Then it can be given either to a charity such as computeraid (they send old PC’s to deprived children in third world countries) or taken to an electrical recycling point, where it will be recycled.
We make a small charge of £30 per PC/Laptop, which will include the “Zeroing” of the hard drive, and collection and disposal of the hardware. The charge is purely to cover our costs and is not intended to be a profit making service.
How you can reduce wasted energy when using your computer
Did you know that when you either select shutdown using your operating system, or press the on/off button to turn off your PC, it will still be using electricity if plugged in? Well it does.
There are a variety of ways to help reduce wasting electricity and hence reduce your individual “carbon footprint”.
Always turn off your computer when not using it
Always unplug your laptop once you have charged the battery.
Configure power options in control panel to reduce power consumption.
Purchase a standby saver device which reduces the electricity running into a PC when switched off.
